Twangfest 13 Lineup Confirmed :: Passes Now On Sale

KDHX 88.1 FM AND TWANGFEST ANNOUNCE CONFIRMED LINE UP FOR FESTIVAL JUNE 10 – 13, 2009 IN ST. LOUIS, MO
OPENING NIGHT AT PAGEANT WITH ALEJANDRO ESCOVEDO - FOUR DAY PASSES AND SINGLE NIGHT TICKETS ON SALE NOW

ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI. The four-day music festival known as Twangfest is back for round number 13. The confirmed line up is one of the strongest ever. Presented by KDHX 88.1 FM, Twangfest unites the sounds of Americana, rock, pop, country and soul with a non-profit, independent spirit like no other summer musical festival in the country.

Kicking off the festival on Wednesday, June 10, is No Depression “Artist of the Decade” Alejandro Escovedo, who makes a highly anticipated return to St. Louis. Opening for the Austin legend are the nouveau Western Swing trio of Hot Club of Cowtown and Memphis songbird Amy Lavere.

On Thursday, June 11, Twangfest moves to the Duck Room at Blueberry Hill, for a night of traditional and modern country sounds, with rockabilly swing veterans Big Sandy and the Fly-Rite Boys, Texas songwriting legend Bruce Robison, Boston-based up-and-comer Eilen Jewell and St. Louis roots rockers Brothers Lazaroff.

Austin’s greatest postmodern jazz and jump blues band, the Asylum Street Spankers, make their first appearance at Twangfest, headlining Friday night, June 12 at the Duck Room. Also on the bill are raunchy rhythm & blues legend Andre Williams, Boston’s torch and twangers Sarah Borges & the Broken Singles, and indie-rock-meets-soul band Jon Hardy & the Public from St. Louis.

The festival closes out on Saturday, June 13 with ex-Drive-By Trucker Jason Isbell and his band the 400 Unit. Isbell is currently touring behind his second solo album, recently awarded 4 stars by SPIN magazine and described as a “gritty, vibrant” work that transcends his roots. Also on the bill is Daddy, the country rock collaboration between Nashville songwriting veterans Tommy Womack and Will Kimbrough. Rounding out the evening are rising Americana stars the Deep Vibration, also from Nashville, and St. Louis’s own indie folk experimentalists Theodore.

Four-day passes to Twangfest are on sale now through the KDHX on-line store for $120 and single night tickets are also available for advance purchase through Ticketmaster. All proceeds from the four-day passes go directly to KDHX Community Media, a non-profit, non-commercial radio, TV and film institution, celebrating its 21st year of enriching the cultural life of the St. Louis metro region and beyond.
